Innovate UK has selected eight British clean energy companies for a Singapore market access programme, forming the third Singapore clean energy cohort under its Global Incubator Programme.

The companies will explore pilot projects, research collaborations and commercial partnerships in Singapore and across Southeast Asia. Their work covers battery storage, energy management software, industrial heating, building efficiency, solar glass and solar panel cooling.

The latest intake brings the number of UK clean energy companies supported through the Singapore programme to 24 since 2024. Innovate UK funds the initiative, which ATUM Ventures delivers in partnership with Better Earth Ventures.

The new cohort includes AceOn Group, AIM Group, Alta Vision, Endo Enterprises, Lanemark Combustion Engineering, LightFi, Polysolar and SolarSub. Several focus on cutting energy use in buildings and industry, while others target power generation, storage and infrastructure monitoring.

Regional push

Running from September to March, the programme is designed to help UK companies assess commercial opportunities in Singapore and the wider Southeast Asian market. It includes two market visits to Singapore and a cross-border visit to Johor, Malaysia.

On the first visit, the companies will take part in workshops, site visits, investor forums and one-to-one meetings with potential partners. The second visit will take place later in the programme.

Singapore has become a key landing point for overseas energy and climate technology companies seeking access to Southeast Asia, partly because of its concentration of industrial groups, investors and public sector agencies. The city-state is also under pressure to improve energy efficiency as electricity demand rises from data centres, cooling and transport electrification.

Luuk Eliens, Managing Partner of ATUM Ventures, said the programme is designed to connect British technology companies with regional partners. "At ATUM, we believe great deep tech and cleantech companies should not be held back by borders. This Global Incubator Programme, supported by Innovate UK, builds on our multi-year partnership to help UK companies grow in Singapore and Southeast Asia. The UK has strong science and founders, and Singapore offers a gateway to the region and industrial partners ready to adopt new technology. By building a bridge between the two, this programme creates value for both: UK companies grow into new markets, and the region gains solutions to its energy and sustainability challenges."

Better Earth Ventures highlighted immediate commercial demand in Singapore for technologies that improve efficiency and reduce strain on energy systems. Rebecca Sharpe, Founder and Director of Better Earth Ventures, said: "Singapore imports almost all of its energy, and demand is rising fast with the growth of data centres, cooling and electric vehicles. Clean power imports and new fuels will help, but they are still years away. The quickest wins are available today: storing energy better, getting more out of solar, cutting waste in our buildings and industry, and keeping critical energy infrastructure running reliably. That is exactly what this cohort of UK companies does. Singapore is the right place for them to prove it, and a launchpad to scale across Southeast Asia."

Existing ties

The programme sits alongside broader UK-Singapore cooperation in clean energy research and innovation. Enterprise Singapore and Innovate UK first signed a memorandum of understanding in 2021 to support co-innovation and joint research and development. The agreement was renewed in 2024, with clean energy named as a priority area.

Under that framework, the Singapore-UK Bilateral Co-Innovation Programme has backed 50 joint projects across four funding calls. In the latest collaborative research and development call, Innovate UK has allocated up to GBP £3 million for eligible UK applicants, while eligible Singapore companies can receive support covering up to 70% of project costs from Enterprise Singapore.

ATUM Ventures said its wider work with UK companies in advanced manufacturing and cleantech has produced measurable commercial outcomes. Since 2023, it has supported 40 UK ventures, made more than 1,600 business connections and helped secure 37 agreements, including pilot projects, memorandums of understanding and joint research collaborations.

Those companies have collectively raised USD $736,000 in investment and secured contracts worth USD $855,000. The figures provide a benchmark for the latest clean energy cohort as it seeks commercial traction in Singapore and neighbouring markets.

Previous results

One example cited by the organisations is RE24, a British renewable energy technology company focused on helping data centres procure and manage renewable electricity. After joining the Singapore cleantech cohort in 2025, RE24 was introduced to a major Singapore data centre operator and later secured a GBP £157,000 contract with the group's UK business.

Dan Tennakoon, Founder and CEO of RE24, described the experience as commercially significant. "I'm hugely grateful that RE24 took part in the Innovate UK Singapore GIP 2025. When we applied, we wrote that some opportunities can be life-changing, and for us the Singapore GIP has proven exactly that. If you have the right innovative product for the region, and you're willing to work hard and drive real value, Singapore is an amazing place to build. We haven't reached full fruition on our Singapore expansion yet, but we're very positive, and Singapore now sits alongside the UK as equally important to RE24's future."

The new cohort will receive market insight, introductions and commercial engagement support as it looks for partners in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Jon Hazell, Partnership Manager, North America and Global Incubator, Innovate UK, said: "Clean energy is a shared priority for the UK and Singapore, and partnerships between our innovation ecosystems can help accelerate the growth and global scaling of innovative UK businesses. Through the Global Incubator Programme, these eight companies will gain access to market insight, strategic connections and commercial opportunities that can help them expand internationally, secure new partnerships and bring their technologies to market faster. We welcome Singapore companies interested in these technologies to connect with the cohort and explore opportunities for collaboration and growth."
